Vinous Neal Martin - 17 Jan 24
The 2022 Saint-Aubin La Chatenière 1er Cru, a blend of three different parcels, is quite closed on the nose despite rigorous coaxing. A touch of reduction is at play, with crushed oyster shell and kelp-like scents percolating through the malic fruit. The palate is well-balanced with a concentrated opening. This feels like a grippy, weighty Saint-Aubin, perhaps without quite the nuance of the 2021, yet it feels reassuringly persistent on the finish.
